At the top of a hill, there is a Madeiran house that extends to the outside – a banana plantation, the Atlantic Ocean, a mountain range.

The house is restored. Its simplicity and vernacular spatiality become protagonists.

Two contrasting objects of volcanic nature are imagined – one that is the extension of the inhabited space, the other that is the creation of an ephemeral space. One overlooks the ocean, the other hides within the banana plantation.

A small pool emerges from the course of the “levadas”. Designed by water, camouflaged in the terrain’s topography.

The ancestral bond between inhabited space and nature is restored.
